Shangshu 尚書, also known as Shujing 書經, is one of the ancient Five Classics. It is a collection of orations made by rulers and important ministers from mythological times to the middle of the Western Zhou period, and some other texts. The Shangshu consists of five parts.
This was presented as Guwen Shangshu 古文尚書, and was widely accepted. It was the basis of the Shàngshū zhèngyì (尚書正義 'Correct interpretation of the Documents') published in 653 and made the official interpretation of the Documents by imperial decree.
Cai Shen 蔡沈, a disciple of Zhu Xi 朱熹, compiled all Song-period commentaries on the Shangshu and published them as Shujizhuan 書集傳.
The Shangshu was written in the early 4th century by Mei Ze (c. 300), who submitted it to the emperor in chancery script based on ancient seal script characters. This version is known as the liguding (隸古定) version, or 'fixed in chancery and ancient script'.

Wu Yu, Wu Cheng, Mei Zhuo, Yan Ruoqu, and Hui Dong praised Mei Ze's 25-chapter version of Shangshu, considering it a significant contribution despite doubts about its authenticity. However, they did not suggest removing suspicious parts or abandoning the study of the Shangshu.
