PCMs composited with MXene enable energy storage through a photothermal-driven phase transition conversion process [149,150]. Chen et al. prepared the MXene framework using the template method. And then, MXene/PEG composites were fabricated by the vacuum impregnation method.
MXene is a novel two-dimensional (2D) material with high metallic thermal conductivity and strong optical response as well as excellent solar thermal conversion capability.
The outstanding cycling stability indicates the heat energy storage and release is highly reversible over long-term cycling owing to the monolithic porous structure of the MXene aerogel. Morphologic stability is critical for the energy storage of PCMs based on the solid–liquid phase change.
Improving the storage efficiency of PCMs and achieving multi-source driven storage conversion are effective methods to broaden the application of PCMs. MXene, as a series of excellent two-dimensional materials, owing rich chemical structures and outstanding physical properties, exhibit an extraordinary impact on energy storage and conversion.
It has been reported that the internal photothermal conversion efficiency of pristine Ti 3 C 2 T x is as high as 100%. Therefore, MXene is a very promising candidate to improve the utilization efficiency of solar energy.
