To leverage the efficacy of different types of energy storage in improving the frequency of the power grid in the frequency regulation of the power system, we scrutinized the capacity allocation of hybrid energy storage power stations when participating in the frequency regulation of the power grid.
In terms of power grid assessment, hybrid energy storage can effectively improve the frequency modulation capability of the unit, improve the frequency modulation performance, and reduce the frequency modulation assessment of the power grid.
The grid frequency is then modulated by adjusting the rotational speed of generators to manage the power output [ 31 ]. When the actual grid frequency drops below the target threshold, it will be elevated via the regulation system through an increase in the generator speed.
At present, there have been many research results on hybrid energy storage participating in the primary frequency regulation control strategy of the power grid both domestically and internationally. Under the four control strategies of A, B, C and D, the hybrid energy storage participating in the primary frequency modulation of the unit |Δ fm | is 0.00194 p.u.Hz, excluding the energy storage system when the frequency modulation |Δ fm | is 0.00316 p.u.Hz, compared to a decrease of 37.61 %.
