The MOTEG MMA motor series consists of water- and air-cooled permanent magnet synchronous motors. Our aim was to develop a high efficiency motor, that can be used where only limited build in space is available. The MMA- Series is available in variants with up to 400 V motors.
When irreversible demagnetisation analysis is performed on the SPM and spoke motor, it is observed that the SPM motors are only partially demagnetised, whereas the spoke motors are completely demagnetised by external fields. This shows that the spoke motor has weak resistance to the external demagnetising field.
To reduce the effect of demagnetisation in spoke motors, two proposed designs are the air hole type and flux barrier type rotor designs, as shown in Figure 7 (b).
The core loss of IM is directly proportional to the flux density in the core therefore with increase in stator slot top width dimension, the tooth width decreases. Hence, the flux density in the tooth increases, the core loss increases.
