The larger the covered area of an improvement technique, the higher is the overall impact of the technique on the power system. One general observation is that there are more conventional than renewable techniques for transient stability improvement.
Therefore, transient energy storage systems (TESSs), for example, electrochemical batteries with fast charging/discharging capabilities are suitable candidates to improve the availability and reliability of connected renewable systems.
In the presence of these challenges, the power flow stability of the multi-microgrids is a challenging problem. In this context, this study evaluates a transient stability analysis model in multi-microgrids using solar photovoltaics, wind power, and a unified power flow controller (UPFC).
Generally, low-voltage ride-through capability of RES has a positive effect on the transient stability of power systems since the disconnection of a large amount of distributed generation would stress the power system even more. Therefore, it is desired that RES remain connected during faults within specified limits.
